Beauty Empties Pt 1

July 20, 2018

I’m starting my empties series back up from scratch after an unintended hiatus that lasted longer than I wanted disrupted the last one. Truthfully I am really bad about throwing everything into the trash/recycling after it’s used up to avoid clutter or messes. In order to be more mindful I designated a special cosmetics pouch to collect my empties in and today I’m showing you most of what I used the last three months or so. As a beauty blogger and beauty enthusiast in general, I go through a lot of product whether those are full sizes or samples/deluxe sizes. Most of what you will see in these empties posts are in fact deluxe sizes since that is how I discover and test new skin or hair care. When it comes to makeup, I rarely hit pan or use something up entirely since I have such a wide collection of products that I rotate through and I try to use everything I have so nothing goes to waste.

Cleansers & Exfoliants

  • Neogen Dermalogy Real Flower Cleansing Water – Calendula – is one of my favorite cleansing waters. It won’t remove really heavy makeup but is great for the skin nonetheless as a second cleanse or on no-makeup days
  • Fresh Soy Face Cleanser – is a face cleanser I’ve only recently discovered through this sample and I have fallen totally in love with. Since I started cleansing with it there has been a significant improvement in the brightness of my skin as well as texture
  • Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment – I actually became kind of obsessed with because it’s a really good exfoliating treatment, especially when you feel like you’re about to have a breakout or pores are starting to feel a little clogged. The only downside are the prices. I find $85 – $175 a little too extreme for me, even the 0.5 oz is $24 which is the one I have shown here and this didn’t last long at all

Eye Creams

  • Belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb (reviewed here) – is a super lightweight, refreshing eye cream that smooths fine lines with a 26-hour burst of moisture, boosts elasticity, and increases the resilience of the skin for flawless makeup application
  • Belif First Aid 360 Eye Care Mask (reviewed here) – I like to use in combination with the Belif The Moisturizing Eye Bomb because it really intensifies the hydration and keeps my eyes from becoming flaky due to dryness
  • Lancome Énergie de Vie The Illuminating & Anti-Fatigue Cooling Eye Gel – is a thin formula for underneath the eyes. I did start to see results towards the end of my sample but really liked it throughout the use for the consistency, texture and mild cooling effect. My only hang-up with this one is that it can only be used during the night since it has a tendency to pill underneath makeup

Face Creams, Mists & Masks

  • Murad Advanced Acne & Wrinkle Reducer – is always in rotation and a serum that I seriously can’t live without. It has a dual-focus formula that targets both aging as well as acne which is perfect for my skin since both are a concern for me
  • Lancome Énergie de Vie The Overnight Recovery Sleeping Mask – was an absolute hit. This is a deep nourishing, melt-in mask that deeply hydrates the skin creating a radiant glow and smooth texture as you sleep. Results are almost instant, after the first night my complexion looked a lot more vibrant and awake. After a week it felt like my skin was retaining much more moisture on its own while radiance and texture appeared greatly improved
  • Herbivore Botanicals Rose Hibiscus Coconut Water Hydrating Face Mist – is a hydrating face mist that I love. I also have the larger size but keep the travel version on hand for on-the-go purposes
  • Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream – is a really great moisturizer but a little too heavy and rich for my skin
  • Caudalie Grape Water – is pretty much the only face mist I consistenly use on an everyday basis. I like to spray this on morning and night between the essence and serum steps for an added boost of hydration
  • Tatcha Violet-C Radiance Mask (reviewed here) – I went through multiple minis of
  • La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Cream – is way too rich for me
  • Laneige Water Sleeping Mask – is one of my favorite sleeping masks, it’s virtually weightless and super hydrating, perfect for dry skin. This is the third mini I used up and already bought the full-size one
  • Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II – I’m still undecided about. This went a long way and I used it consistently for a solid month before I ran out – that being said I didn’t see any noticeable results. I was very excited to try this because it’s has legit holy grail status alas I did not find it did anything for my skin
  • Dr. Dennis Gross C+ Collagen Deep Cream – unfortunately caused a breakout and left skin very greasy and shiny. I used it on my decollete area until I finished the jar
  • COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence – is formulated with 96% snail secretion filtrate for super intense repair and hydration. This is good for all skin types but in my opinion this may be a lifesaver for those with chronic dry skin as well as acne-prone skin. It adds moisture and glow to the skin and is packed with concentrated hydrating, anti-aging, and complexion-enhancing ingredients

That wraps up my empties! Will definitely do another one once I’ve accumulated enough products worthy of a post. What are some of the items you have used up in the last couple of weeks?
