Makeup Summer 2018

By Terry Sun Designer Palettes – Hippy Chic and Happy Sun

May 14, 2018

By Terry just launched their Summer 2018 collection and it includes two new limited edition Sun Designer Palettes ($55 / 0.53 oz – 15 g). By Terry’s Sun Designer Palettes are all-in-one convenient face palettes that includes bronzer, blush and highlighters encased in a sleek mirrored compact. The new options in this release are Happy Sun and Hippy Chic. Both are simply breathtaking and well worth the splurge. This year’s Sun Designer Palettes come in the same size packaging and pans but have silver zigzag dividers this time around instead of last year’s gold and black dividers before that. These have a very summery vibe to them and if you’re looking for a pretty Summer glow than either option will give you a beautiful natural flush of color and tan.

Both palettes have a mix of colors and textures versatile enough for both the cheeks as well as eyes. The powders are nicely pigmented with medium to full coverage and are super buildable with soft, velvety textures. The colors blend smoothly and effortlessly melding with the skin to last all day without fading or emphasizing pores/natural texture.

#5 Hippy Chic offers a more festival and cruise-ready medley featuring pinks, corals and beige tones in matte and luminous finishes. #6 Happy Sun exudes all of the tan vibes with bronze, beige, peach, and copper in matte, luminous and shimmer finishes. Both are perfect for that “your skin, but better” look. It’s hard for me to pick a favorite since I really like both, that being said Happy Sun offers the most amazing overall result of bronzey perfection to give my complexion a naturally glowy tan that produces color, highlight and a subtle contour all at the same time. I’m about that bronze life during the Summer and Happy Sun seamlessly contributes to that.

Here’s a look at what this year’s packaging is, I really like the super colorful theme! It almost reminds me of the bolder patterns Missoni has used in their previous collections years ago.

Bottom line, a solid launch from By Terry. Like most who have used the Sun Designer Palettes before, I prefer slightly larger pans that would allow me to use individual colors with a larger complexion brush – on that note, blending the shades does produce the better effect on the skin, even with the darker shades which I have always been fearful of since they can run the risk to look muddy. Luckily these powders blend beautifully together and the radiant sunkissed look is pretty much to.die.for! I highly recommend both palettes. Right now they are listed as limited edition but I’m not 100% sure since most of the previous Sun Designer Palettes became permanent.
