Favorites Roundup

9 Things I’m Loving Right Now

January 1, 2018

Happy New Year’s Day babes! Today I have a roundup of a few random makeup favorites that I have been reaching for quite a bit over anything else lately. Recent beauty launches have been either hit or miss for me but I’ve also found some new pieces that I’ve completely fallen in love with. In the past two months or so I’ve been gravitating a lot towards some Tom Ford classics that have been long-time staples in my collection. I go through these phases where I either bounce between a lot of different products, old and new, or simply stick to what I consider my ultimate essentials because I can never go wrong with them. I have those to feature along with some newer makeup discoveries today. Up first is a long-time favorite, holy grail status eyeshadow palette:

  • My most-used eyeshadow palette of all time is Nude Dip by Tom Ford. The hype and mayhem that has surrounded this quad since its official launch for Fall 2014 is real and totally justified. This is a classically timeless neutral palette with a color combination suitable for the everyday as well as evening that is equally elegant as it is modern. The shades are so easy to wear since they compliment each other flawlessly, and while the colors are shimmery they are super refined and wearable. Texture is quite unique, soft, almost creamy that gives this deep, flattering multi-dimensional look to the eyes with very rich pigment and long-lasting quality. Nude Dip falls into the category of makeup essentials that I have in my stash at all times, it’s an effortless palette that is versatile enough to wear for a number of occasions and will go with a multitude of lip colors regardless of shade or whether it pulls warm or cool. Pure love. One of my biggest wishes is that Tom Ford will expand this line by adding a few new varieties
  • A second Tom Ford essential is the Sugar Dune Nail Lacquer. This is my most-worn neutral nail polish of all time. This is simply a very elegant color and I always feel like it makes me look put together, even when I know I’m not. It’s a slightly cool-toned creamy beige with subtle pink undertones and takes two coats to achieve full coverage
  • I have been completely obsessed with the Fall 2017 nude lip color additions (reviewed + swatched here). Honestly, I can’t pick a favorite because they all just look so beautiful
  • For fragrance I’ve been practically bathing myself in the Orchid Soleil Eau de Parfum. Orchid Soleil is one of my most-loved fragrances. It’s warm, sexy, just plain addictive. Lasting power is quite good and I can still trace it on my skin by late afternoon. It has a bright, yet pleasantly moody feel to it. Since fragrance is so personal and intimate, the scent might not evoke the same feelings toward it like it does to me – basically, you’ll either love it or hate it. Personally, I love this for any season and any time of the day
  • Last by Tom Ford is the newer Orchid Soleil Nightbloom Powder (reviewed + swatched here) – inspired by the Orchid Soleil Eau de Parfum. Leave it up to Tom Ford to create a $80 highlighter that literally turns out to be the most perfect neutral tone of all time – and then makes it limited edition! Soleil Bloom is a warm, light to medium champagne with rosy undertones and has a semi- metallic finish. The powder adheres lightly to the skin for a beautiful glow with natural-looking opaque coverage. This is a highlighting color I’ve been looking for virtually all my life and I kick myself for not buying a backup since I had to order it online sight unseen. By the time I swatched it, my heart dropped finding out it had already been discontinued – we’re talking a matter of maybe a little more than a week. Fingers crossed and praying to the beauty gods that it might be brought back in the future
  • Another highlighter that I am totally in swoon with is the Chanel Le Signe du Lion Illuminating Powder (reviewed + swatched here). This shade is a gorgeous light, warm peach with pink undertones and produces a beautiful soft yet strong sheen on the skin that isn’t too frosty. It gives the perfect lit-from-within glow in semi-opaque coverage that can be applied sheer and layered to intense
  • The new Mineralize Skinfinish in Satin Shimmer from the MAC Jade Jagger collection (reviewed + swatched here) is very comparable to Global Glow, although I have been finding myself reaching for it quite frequently. This is a gorgeous, warm shimmer and matte golden bronze that has a luminous finish and looks very natural on the skin. It has sheer-medium coverage and built to full coverage really well with about two layers
  • For a little flush on the cheeks, I really love Euphoric Fusion from the Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Blush collection (reviewed + swatched here). It has the perfect balance of color and glow, being luminous in a subtle nature so it gives the skin that beautiful soft sheen with enough color balance to bring life to the face. Euphoric Fusion reads as a warm light-to-medium mauve with rosy undertones and has micro pearlescent shimmer – although it can pull almost peachy pink on my skin, just check out the swatch to see how it does so
  • A lip gloss I’ve been using a lot since about Fall is the Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer in Skin Deep (swatched here). This is a warm light to medium nude beige with subtle peach undertones. The Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquers are high impact glosses that act more like a liquid lipstick than a gloss. These deliver maximum color with sheer to medium coverage and a brilliant shine that contributes to an optical plumping look. There is a subtle sweet minty scent to the glosses that feels quite cooling on the lips but is not tingly whatsoever
