I’m very selective when it comes to mascara, as most of us are. Aside from foundation and a good lip product, mascara is inarguably one of the top most important beauty counterparts a woman can own for a wide number of reasons – meaning that careful scrutiny is non-negotiable. I have what I like to call combination lashes. My right eyelashes have a slight natural curl to them while my left lashes are almost pin straight and have a difficult time holding onto a curl. Their overall density is quite low, they are not to be noticed until coated in mascara. Hence the reason why I’m always on the hunt to find formulas that add a lot of volume. Since its initial launch, I’ve been using the new L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara ($9.99 / 0.28 oz) and it’s an incredible formula. This is the very first drugstore mascara I actually like so much that it is worthy of backup stashing … by the dozens!
The formula itself is the most pigmented I’ve come across in a while. Blackest Black is an ultra deep, rich color providing a high-octane degree of drama as well as definition. It’s volumizing, lengthening, holds a curl, does not smudge, does not flake, does not clump, properly defines and separates, I could go on. Basically, it instantly gives the false lash effect. Application is easy and the result is incredible as it adds what I would consider significant volume to the lashes with a single application. This formula is without flaw and has become one of my all-time favorites. If there’s one minor drawback to the overall design it would have to be that the brush contains excessive product each time I pull the wand out of the tube. In the grand scheme of things, this is not a deal breaker nor an issue, it just means I need to be mindful about wiping off the excess before applying – otherwise, spider lashes here I come!
If you’ve been looking for a new mascara, I highly recommend the L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara. It does not happen often that I fall this hard for a drugstore formula, but it is honestly so good and it’s only $10. This has been my go-to since Spring, and even though I am a regular formula type of gal, there was zero smudging for me in the scorching heat nor in the humidity this monsoon season. All-in-all it’s everything I want in a mascara – volume, definition, no raccoon eyes and holds a curl like no other.
