Per usual, I’m obsessed with all things fresh and neutral this Summer and today I have a roundup of some beauty favorites currently in rotation. In the recent months, many new formulas in eyes, cheeks and lips have launched and of course I have been checking out everything under the sun scouting the best neutral options. I feel like this season has birthed quite a bolder color approach as opposed to the easy, breezy California cool we usually experience this time of year. Many brands are coming out with bright hues of yellows, greens, blues, reds and multiple shades pulled from the sienna family as far as eyes are concerned. Others are pushing for a darker lip with deeper reds, even berries. Personally, I’m all about light and effortless colors because my go-to look for the Summer is forever a sunkissed bronzed look that may or may not make it seem that I just returned from vacation. Beach waves included.
First up is my favorite category for cheeks. A few staples I’ve been loving includes the Nars Blush in Hot Sand as well as Miss Liberty and Laura Mercier’s Baked Blush Illumine Rosé. Hot Sand is a gorgeous “just came from the beach” champagne peach with a sheen finish, while Miss Liberty is a warm peachy beige with silver shimmer and a luminous finish. I love both formulas so much and every Summer season I find myself reaching for them over and over again as I find them both so complimenting on a simple bronzed cheek. Currently I’m trying to finish the Hot Sand shade from the Narsissist Unfiltered II Cheek Palette before purchasing the now permanent standalone compact which was added to the line not too long ago. Laura Mercier’s Illumine Rosé is a beautiful warm medium peachy copper with gold and pink shimmers. There’s a fair dose of sparkle/micro-glitter in this which usually would scare me but with blending the powder buffs out into a smooth glow with a rosy background.
Next are the eyes. In my opinion the best kind of neutral eyeshadow palettes are those by Urban Decay, specifically the Naked 1 and 2 as well as any type of custom eyeshadow palette. My go-to since Spring has been this custom MAC eyeshadow palette, which I talked extensively about in this respective post. As you can see my palette is a very basic yet well-rounded medley of flattering neutral shades that consist of a good range between light beige and medium bronze. To me this is the perfect go with everything kind of palette. Another favorite for the eyes is the Nars Velvet Shadow Stick in Siros and is a to-die-for shimmering bronze with a small touch of gold. I like to wear this on its own or layered with other bronze-like tones or even gold colors.
Swatches of Nars Velvet Shadow Stick in Siros available in the Nars Wildifire Spring 2017 Collection post.
Time for lips. During the sweltering heat, I’m a (tinted) lip balm or gloss girl at heart. Tinted or clear balms and glosses are more forgiving on dry lips compared to other lip formulas, plus, I have a very strict no-fuss policy in place once it reaches a certain temperature because I simply cannot be bothered. A few I’ve been obsessed with shown below:
That rounds up my current Summer neutrals favorites. I hope you babes enjoyed if you’re on the market for some neutrals and find the swatches I provided helpful. As always, I welcome any recommendations from you or just reading what neutrals you have in rotation this season!
