Christian Louboutin introduces Metalinudes, the designer’s newest beauty collection adorning tips and lips in metallic laminated lacquer. Inspired by the high-gloss patent and lustrous lamé finishes of his renowned footwear and leather goods collections, Metalinudes evokes a brighter take on the typically edgy metallic for his signature playful look through warmth and light. The Metalinude Nail Colour ($50 each / 0.4 fl. oz – 13 mL) arrives in a limited edition collection of three universally flattering colors housed in the hallmark square boxes emblazoned with luxurious metallic python leather motif and where the calligraphy-style tops are coated in gorgeous rose gold just like hues in the already existing Nude polish collection.
There are three densely shimmer coated nude shades in this launch, each of which are enriched with chrome-like pigments of aluminum and tan opal mica offering a high-coverage, high-shine metallic finish. The colors are all shimmery with light-reflecting particles providing a rich look and feel. When it comes to metallic nail polishes, I’m quite hesitant as many iterations can leave behind a streaky finish from brush strokes as well as a noticeable gritty texture. With the Metalinudes there is no visible streaking whatsoever. Application is very smooth and colors are easy to apply. Pigment is excellent with two coats achieving full coverage. I’ve swatched each color with two coats.
Goldissima – is a warm, light gold with subtle bronze undertones
Preciosa – is a warm, medium coppery rose gold with pink undertones
One last look at the packaging.
At $50 each, Louboutin nail polishes are extremely pricey and quite the luxurious splurge. I am really pleased with the shades I purchased as I find them the most exciting thing in nail colors right now with their metallic offerings embracing a bright, yet edgy look. Each shade has a really smooth and easy-to-apply formula. I usually never have that much luck with metallic-infused shades but these are quite perfect. The dry time is also fairly quick and two coats gives the nails a lustrous, high-gloss full coverage finish. I can’t pick a favorite out of the two although rose gold is my favorite metal in life and keeps catching my eye. The Metalinudes collection is entirely limited edition and I suspect that the nail lacquers as well as the new Loubilaques will sell out quite fast as they are making good rounds on social media and everyone is going crazy for them. You can find them online while supplies last at Nordstrom, Sephora, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, Net-a-Porter and Christian Louboutin.
