Earlier this year, MAC announced that it was expanding its Extra Dimension line, bringing back some classic Skinfinish favorites as well as introducing an arsenal of new blushes cloaked in the well-loved formula. I’ve been such a long-time fan of the Extra Dimensions as they are among some of top favorite MAC entities. The Skinfinishes are stunning in both pigment as well as glow. They are unique highlighters that are not quite creams yet not quite powders and rank as moderate to intense on the radiance scale. What I have always loved about the formula is that despite for them being quite intense, these provide skin a suitable glow with color rather than just a pale frost as its base. I’m thrilled that they launched more shades and brought back some old favorites as well as launched an entire new blush line. I picked up a total of three of the new Extra Dimension items, including two Skinfinishes in Glow With It and Superb, and one blush in the shade Into The Pink.
The Extra Dimension Skinfinishes in Glow With it and Superb are beautiful, lightweight powders that meld into the skin perfectly for an intense and luminous glow that have a high-impact finish which nearly borders metallic. These are very pigmented but the colors are really smooth and easy to blend for a diffused look. In comparison to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kits, the shimmer is less on the dramatic side and are very wearable for the everyday. These have a unique texture that are not quite creams but not quite powders and are addictively smooth to the touch without being dry or dusty in the pan. The powders apply divinely to the skin with even coverage and depending on what color volume your preference goes towards, these can go from fully opaque to less intense using a lighter touch. While the finish borders metallic, the powders did not accentuate any pores or texture of my skin and wore well over nine hours.
A look at the color selection and descriptions as I see them
Glow With It – is a warm, medium brown with rosy undertones and has a fine golden shimmer
Superb – is a warm, medium to dark brown with rosy undertones and has a metallic sheen finish

Created with the prismatic Extra Dimension formula, MAC has also launched 11 new blushes which are permanent additions to the line. I picked up the shade Into The Pink – a warm, light to medium cotton candy pink with a pearl sheen finish. Harmonizing the smoothness of a cream, the blendability of a liquid and the finish of a powder, the Extra Dimension Blush yields that same gorgeous luminous finish synonymous with the collectible formula. Texture is smooth with a softer consistency than the original Extra Dimension Skinfinishes, which made it easier to pick up less product for a more natural application. Pigment is very rich but the powder blends out really well using even the softest of brushes. This blush has a high-shine finish as well but did not emphasize neither pores or my skin’s texture. Wear time for Into The Pink went well beyond 10 hours.

Bottom line, these are beautiful powders with some lovely additions to refresh your looks with. Formula-wise, these fall among the best I’ve tried in both highlighters and blushes as they provide amazing coverage with nice rich pigment and a beautiful luminous glow that is not frosty. They layer well with other products including powder, cream and liquid, meld nicely with the skin and do not emphasize pores or skin texture like some high-impact finish products can. All-in-all, these are definite must-haves in my book and I’m super thrilled these are all part of the permanent chapter now!
Have you tried the new Extra Dimension items yet? What are your thoughts on them?
