What's In My Bag

What’s In My Bag

April 14, 2017

Happy Friday loves! Hope everyone had a great work week and is gearing up for the weekend! Today I have a quick post about what’s currently in my bag. It’s literally been years since I’ve done a what’s in my bag post and thought it was high time for an update since the contents have changed quite drastically as time has inched on. With the start of Spring, I usually switch out my daytime bags for something more refreshing in tone. I love a classic black bag as much as the next girl but prefer lighter neutrals for most of this season as well as the next. One of my favorite go-to bags for the last few years has been this Recebba Minkoff MAB Tote in the color Biscuit, which is a gorgeous nude color. The bag has a nice modern and relaxed feel to it but can totally be played up to a more business casual style. What I really like about this bag is its overall simplistic design and versatility. The size is quite perfect as it is the larger version but is not bulky. All in all, it’s a great seasonal or year-round bag perfect for multiple occasions.

Full list of bag contents:

I like to carry my Louis Vuitton Cosmetic Pouch Monogram Canvas to keep my makeup organized and separated from other contents. This was gifted to me by my mother-in-law and I’ve found it perfect for storing odds and ends while traveling or just being on-the-go. For everyday use it functions as a practical and luxe stowaway for my makeup, sample perfume bag and sunglasses. Makeup rotation includes: Dior Addict Lip Glow in Pink (reviewed here), Chanel Rouge Coco Gloss in 744 Subtil (reviewed here), Nars Velvet Lip Glides in Stripped, Unlaced and Suck (reviewed here), Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment Sunscreen SPF 15 in Sugar Nude and lastly the Tom Ford Clutch-Size Lip Balms (reviewed here).

As much as I love regular-sized perfumes and their display-worthy bottles, I completely live for sample and travel sizes. I actually have a tall clear vase in my office filled to the rim with vials that I have garnered through ordering online. At any given time I keep a few vials on me and re-spritz once during the day for a quick refresher or pick-me-up if I feel a little slump coming. Since the inside of my Louis Vuitton cosmetics pouch is still in pristine condition, I keep the perfume samples in a little Dior dust bag that I reuse because sometimes vials like to leak. These small Dior bags usually come with your beauty order from their official website and hold samples you can pick at checkout. I have a bunch of these from Chanel, Dior, etc., and I like to keep them because they oddly come in handy at one time or another for literally just about everything.

Sunscreen is of the essence here in Vegas, especially now as we’ve already been experiencing 90 degree days this early on in the year. We’re going into a period where increased temps bring about more heat and sun earlier and longer which means it’s that time I start to keep a travel-size in my bag for reapplication purposes. Formula-wise I usually prefer an SPF of 50 but often times will settle for 30 if it means that the scent is on-point as well as its portability factor. One that I really like right now is the Coola Sport Continuous Spray SPF 30 in Tropical Coconut. I really like the fact that this sunscreen has a lot of great skin benefiting properties and that it is Sport as well. The product has a sweet coconut smell and makes the skin look moisturized. The fact that it’s spray-on is amazing for easy on-the-go application because it cancels out having to get greasy cream all over hands. I liked it so much that I keep a travel-size version in my bag while I have the full-size standing on my bathroom counter.

I received the Yuni Shower Sheets Large Body Wipes as a sample from Sephora and while truthfully at first I was not quite sure what to do with these they have become almost utterly paramount when I’m out on really hot days. The mix of sun exposure, hot and stale air, plus being in a car for longer than 30 minutes with mild perspiration can leave me feeling a little gross at times. These sheets have been virtual life savers in those instances because they are the perfect pick-me-ups. I will wipe down my arms, chest and legs before reapplying my sunscreen and feel completely fresh and renewed – pretty much like I just took a shower. They have a fresh, almost peppermint scent to them that fades literally within seconds. I suspect that for someone who goes to the gym but has no time to shower afterwards, or for those that travel a lot these would be just perfect. The big box comes with 12 individual sheets and once I run out of my samples it will be the first thing I purchase.

A hand cream favorite that I always keep in my bag is the Bliss High Intensity Hand Cream. It’s a pampering treatment that I really like. This is a classic high-strength moisturizing formula that keeps hands and cuticles hydrated and smooth pretty much all day long. It has an airy yet rich texture that is not too thin nor too thick and absorbs quickly without being greasy. It has a heavenly subtle feminine scent that I think hits the mark.

For tech I am quite low maintenance. Besides my phone and headphones, that’s really about it. I never leave the house without my phone being fully charged and I don’t use it enough on-the-go for the battery to become run down so there’s no need for portable power stations, cords, etc. cluttering up my bag. My belief has always been that if I’m out in the world, I’m out in the world and there’s no need to be on my phone unless it’s for taking a few pictures or if I need directions to go somewhere. Even then, I keep a portable charger in my car in case my battery does get low.

For those curious the wallet is by Michael Kors and is the Jet Set Travel Saffiano Leather Card Holder in Raspberry. Mine is the older version and does not have the coin zip pouch on the back. Sunglasses are Tommy Hilfiger Rose Gold-Tone Lindsay Aviators.

And that about wraps it up for what I have in my bag right now. I’m pretty set on its contents but I am in the market for a new hand sanitizer. After years of using Purex, I kind of need a change and am open to any suggestions you guys may have!
