Nudestix Nudies All Over Face Color Bronze + Glow

April 11, 2017

Nudestix’s latest makeup launch is the Nudies All Over Face Color Bronze + Glow ($30 each / 0.28 oz – 8 g). These are dewy, skin brightening bronzer & highlighter for the eyes, cheeks and lips and have a very lightweight, luxurious texture. There are three colors to choose from in Illumi-Naughty, Hey, Honey and Brown Sugar, Baby. For me the packaging as well as the portable cream-based concept are what spoke to me – I mean, how could I resist cream bronzer and highlighter? I ordered all three of them to try and after testing them I have some thoughts and swatches to share!

These water-resistant sticks come in the cutest flat black tins that have a mirror on the inside of the lid and are dual-ended with a soft color balm on one side and a blending brush on the other end for convenient application. Nudestix recommends applying these by either drawing them directly on skin, dab softly with fingers, or stipple on color with the brush. Using the fingers is probably the best way to apply so you waste as little product as possible – although I personally prefer drawing them directly on the skin and then using my fingers or a damp Beautyblender to blend out product. All three have a soft texture that feels cool to the touch and blend flawlessly. Initially the sticks were quite firm out of the tube and I had some difficulties applying them directly to the skin as they were not exactly smooth. It took a few uses for wear-down purposes before they became softened and emollient enough to swipe effortlessly onto the skin. Coverage and pigment is quite sheer compared to what you see in the tubes, but they layer nicely to give the complexion a dewy, natural glow with a subtle hint of color. The finish of each is dewy but in a editorial kind of way, these do dry down all the way and give the skin a beautiful, youthful glow.

Looking closely, the sticks have a hint of extremely fine-milled shimmer with a super smooth texture, no glitter to speak of and set into a high-shine finish. On my medium skin, Illumi-Naughty and Hey, Honey are light enough to where I can wear them as highlighters. Brown Sugar, Baby is a bit too dark to wear as a highlighter although I have found an amazing purpose for it as a bronzing/contouring base. On the cheeks all three add a very natural yet visible glow that is truly stunning. On the face I found they lasted around 7 hours before starting to fade, with the exception of Brown Sugar, Baby which is the darkest color and hung around significantly longer. The Nudies All Over Face Color Bronze + Glow sticks are also wearable on the eyes as well as the lips. For the eyes I found that they provided sheer color coverage but looked much more glossy in finish versus on the complexion since product is much more concentrated on the eyes. On their own they do crease a little but in combination with an eye primer and a translucent setting powder that issue was fixed accompanied by a 5-hour wear time. For the lips these take on life as a subdued semi- metallic, high-shine lip balm. I found them sheer in coverage and color is barely visible on the lips. You can build color naturally but overall the base of these are sheer.

A look at the color selection and descriptions as I see them.

Illumi-Naughty – is a warm pink pearl
Hey, Honey – is a warm golden champagne with subtle yellow undertones
Brown Sugar, Baby – is a warm copper bronze with brown undertones

Bottom line, I love these! As a lover of cream-based makeup, these are right up my alley and great additions to my stash. I really like that these give a healthy wash of color and a natural, dewy glow without feeling overdone. My complexion looks fresh and hydrated and I am able to get a decent amount of wear time without them fading. While there are three ways the sticks can be worn, my preference lies with as a highlighter and bronzer. I would recommend these based on the price, the ease of use and the beautiful finish.
