MAC has had some wonderful new collections that recently launched with plenty to fall head-over-heels for and today I have some thoughts and swatches on three shades of their Quiktrik Sticks ($32 / 0.42 oz – 12 g). The Quiktrik Sticks were originally released for Fall 2016 but some shades were repromoted for their recent Work It Out collection. Since I had three sticks from the original launch but never got around to swatching them and since I’m also in the middle of testing cream-based formulas for some upcoming edits, I decided to repurchase my favorite shades and swatch them all together for this post!
The Quiktrik Sticks are convenient double-ended twist-up sticks holding cream-based formulas that work for contouring, bronzing, blushing or highlighting. These have buildable and blendable color that can be worn over bare skin or foundation. One side of the stick has the blush or highlighting shade that is more shimmery in tone while the other side has the darker color that looks more natural but still have a degree of sheen to it due to their creamy consistency. The Quiktrik Sticks have a nice emollient texture which makes them easy to move across the skin and are a dream to blend for a natural wash of color on the face. They give the skin a nice glowy finish without emphasizing the skin’s texture or pores. What I really like about these is that they don’t remove any base makeup during application nor does it break apart my foundation after hours of wear. Ever since I started using these I have come to prefer MAC’s formula over the Nars Multiples in terms of workability, finish and longevity.
A look at the color selection and descriptions as I see them.
A Latte Sheen/ Semi-Sweet – A Latte Sheen is a warm light-medium coppery brown with red undertones and a gold pearl. Semi-Sweet is a warm medium brown with red undertones and has a natural sheen finish.
Bare End/ Earthnut – Bare End is a warm light-medium champagne gold with yellow undertones and a gold pearl. Earthnut is a warm light-medium brown with red undertones and has a natural sheen finish..
Ginger Spiked/ Counterpoint – Ginger Spiked is a warm light peach with a hint of orange undertones and a satin finish. Counterpoint is a cool cotton candy pink with blue undertones and has a natural sheen finish.
Swatched on the arm – corresponding swatches are bronzing/contouring or blushing formula first, highlighting second.
Overall the MAC Quiktrik Sticks are some lovely additions to update your look for both Spring and Summer. I like that they are convenient in a twist-up stick format. The formula applies really well to the skin, are easy to blend and the colors give a nice long-lasting natural glow to the face. These are going to come in super handy once we are in Summer since I do tend to gravitate more towards cream and liquid-based products as opposed to powders for my makeup.
You can find the Quiktrik Sticks on MAC’s website as well as in stores and at counters. I repurchased mine from Nordstrom where they were 15% off each because they were price matching all across their beauty section. Have you checked out these sticks yet? What did you think?
