Natasha Denona | All Over Glow Face & Body Shimmer, Blush Duo & Face Glow Foundation

March 17, 2017

Natasha Denona’s entire makeup line recently launched on Sephora.com and there are some stunning beauties to play with. I’ve been testing a few of her products for the past few weeks and today I have a roundup to share of three pieces that are part of her Glowing Skin System: the Face Glow Foundation, All Over Glow Face & Body Shimmer Powder and a Blush Duo.

I matched myself sight unseen to the Face Glow Foundation ($42 / 1.01 oz – 31.5 g) in shade 45 Medium Neutral. I used this color face chart on Sephora as I found it super helpful in determining the color with the right undertone. When I apply the foundation, the color is a tad too dark for my actual face but almost matches the rest of my body. I say almost because the foundation does oxidize a bit once it sets. I initially wanted to purchase 40 Neutral Light-Medium but I’m in that awkward skintone transition phase right now where it’s almost impossible to get a 100% exact match. We just started to hit the 80’s on a consistent basis and it’s been hot meaning my hoodies and long-sleeves have made way for more skin baring tops. Going into buying this foundation I kept in mind that once I start to tan, I tan quickly and rather hard – since I do plan on wearing this foundation throughout Summer my intent was to get the shade I will eventually be right off the bat even if that means it doesn’t exactly work for me as of this moment.

The Face Glow Foundation is a lightweight, hydrating foundation that contains SPF 15. It is housed in a pump tube and to me overall feels like a BB/CC cream. Consistency is on the thick side, similar to that of Urban Decay’s Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector or Chanel’s CC Cream but has lighter coverage and does blend quite nicely using a damp Beautyblender. Coverage is light to medium with a natural, dewy effect. Initially out the tube the foundation is light but is buildable to achieve a medium finish. That being said, the thick consistency vs lighter coverage factor does affect product ratio if you want to layer to achieve more coverage. There’s a little bit of a learning curve there and my suggestion is to apply each layer as light-handed as possible using either a damp Beautyblender or even your fingers because the natural warmth breaks down product quicker and seamlessly melds it into the skin. As the name implies, this is a luminous foundation. In fact, it is one of most luminous I’ve used in a very long time. I suspect that if you have normal/combo skin or skin that tends to get naturally oily regardless of type after wearing foundation for a long time, think 7+ hours, a setting powder and perhaps even a mattifying primer or setting spray are absolutely necessary. On my normal/dry skin it gets quite dewy as time progresses but does not turn greasy.

I personally love this foundation. This one will be perfect for end of Spring going into Summer when looking fresh and glowy is what I prefer wearing a lighter base in lieu of a classic foundation. Despite its lighter coverage it does even out the skin – however, if you need or prefer more coverage on an everyday basis with less of a glow factor, this foundation might not be right for you or maybe could just be used for certain occasions only. For me the dew is spot-on with what I like for my complexion plus it’s lightweight and super hydrating.

Next up is the All Over Glow Face & Body Shimmer Powder ($38 / 0.35 oz – 10 g) in the shade 02 Medium which is one of the prettiest bronze shades I’ve tried in a while. The powder is on the shimmery side and despite it being cool-toned on top of that it’s not overly frosty. Pigment is superb with a soft texture that is effortless to blend. I use this as a bronzer and find that it makes the skin glow flawlessly. For all-over face bronzers I live for shimmer-based powders because it brings a multi-dimensional look to the face that is absolute perfection and this one is amazing for just that. 02 Mediun gives my complexion a healthy, radiant bronzey sheen with a slight golden undercurrent. This is a hydrating shimmer powder infused with real crushed pearls to bring the ultimate glowing, healthy-looking texture to both the face and body – and it’s specially formulated for a long lasting finish with comfortable wear. The All Over Glow Face & Body Shimmer Powders are one of Natasha Denona’s best-selling products and I can definitely see why. This powder never accentuates my skin texture or pores and blends out so beautifully. It gives a lit from within, youthful and supple type of glow. It’s brilliant, just brilliant.

Swatch comparison below to the Kevyn Aucoin The Celestial Bronzing Veil in Tropical Days. Tropical Days is kind of similar in finish and texture but has a bit more gold to it.

Lastly is the Blush Duo ($38 / 0.5 oz – 14 g) in the shade 14 Golden Coral – a champagne peach shimmer and warm pink with slight champagne sheen. Deemed as a blush compact, this seems to be a hybrid of blush and highlighter with the left shade (a champagne peach shimmer) being more of a highlighter, while the right (a warm pink with with slight champagne sheen) functioning as the actual blush. At least, that’s how I’ve been playing with it. The shades are bright and colorful – both with impressive pigment, silky blendable textures and a beautiful subtle glow. One swipe gives impressive color deposit and is super easy to blend or buff out for a smooth finish. The soft texture of each shade in the Blush Duo brings a natural-looking and bright effect to the complexion. According to the official description, this duo blush palette provides a dominant color and a subtler color for blending and softening edges. I tried layering them in such fashion but was not fond of the results. I prefer to use this compact as both a blush and highlighter as it seems to work better that way. Lasting power is very good – they stay put from morning until early evening.

If you’re in the market for a makeup base collection to bestow your complexion with some serious glow, Natasha Denona’s line should be high on your priority list. Out of all three items I tried there was not one that I favored over the other – definitely a first for me. These pieces are excellent to incorporate into an everyday routine if you’re as big of a dew and glow fan as I am. All-in-all, I really like her line so far and am already looking for the next pieces to add on.
