For Spring Marc Jacobs Beauty has quietly launched 11 new shades of the Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer ($28 each / 0.16 oz – 5 mL). There are now a total of 29 high-shine lip gloss shades available that come in a wide range of colors including nudes, pinks, reds, corals, plums and more. The textures range from a jelly-like substance to creams and shimmers – all of which have a smooth cushiony feel. The Enamored Hi-Shine Gloss Lip Lacquer lip glosses deliver maximum color with sheer to medium coverage and a brilliant shine that contributes to an optical plumping look. There is a subtle sweet minty scent to the glosses that feels quite cooling on the lips but is not tingly whatsoever. The Enamored Lip Lacquers are formulated with apricot and passion fruit and feel ultra hydrating once applied with the flexible sponge-tip applicator. These apply super smooth and in fact feel almost like silk on the lips without being too sticky. Texture is pleasantly lightweight and lasts impressively long in regards to a gloss. Out of the 11 new shades I picked up three, including: 340 Make Me!, 342 Work It and 344 Skin Deep.
A look at the color selection and descriptions as I see them.
340 Make Me! – is a warm medium to deep mauve with pink undertones. No shimmer.
342 Work It – is a warm light to medium nude brown with yellow undertones. No shimmer.
344 Skin Deep – is a warm light to medium nude beige with subtle peach undertones. No shimmer.
Swatched on the arm
Swatched on the lips. For skin tone reference, I am not wearing any foundation and am completely barefaced here. My skin tone is medium with pink undertones.
This was my first around with the Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquers and have to say that after playing with them I found that the overall formula ranks as superb. Lasting power is quite amazing given the high-shine factor and jelly-like consistency. They last for several hours, I clocked almost 4, before they started fading due to eating lunch. If they go untouched they last even longer than 4 hours and did survive through almost two cups of tea with minimal transfer. Even though these are sheer to medium coverage, they do contain a good dose of pigment and the texture makes them pretty much budge-proof. Also, a big bonus is that despite that they are a little fluid there is no bleeding nor do the lighter colors settle into fine lines or become patchy over time. The semi-sheer color makes these rather forgiving and I find them perfect for an effortless everyday lip. The Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquers are a luxurious treat and beautiful on their own as well as layered on top of lip pencils and lipsticks!
