Nars has just launched a new capsule collection exclusive to Nordstrom called Pop Goes The Easel. Inspired by the vivid and modern culture of pop art, the limited edition range features the brand’s most coveted classics outfitted in freshly marked shades designed to make the face pop with color. Introducing 3 new Sheer Pop Multiples, 4 Velvet Lip Glides and 3 Blushes, the collection brings forth a contemporary age elevating the color codes of the counter-movement. I ordered all four of the new Velvet Lip Glide shades ($26-28 / 0.2 oz – 5.7 mL) sight unseen the day the collection went live on Nordstrom’s site. For those who are new to the Nars Velvet Lip Glides, these are created with an innovative hybrid formula that marries the comfortable lightweight cloak of a lip gloss and the finish of a lipstick. The Velvet Lip Glides are highly saturated, richly pigmented lip colors that provide ultimate hydration and long-lasting wear. They have a smooth, non-sticky consistency with a weightless feel that glides product effortlessly onto the lips achieving strong color coverage in just a few swipes. Their finish is described as a “semi-matte”, but on initial swipe they maintain a creamy sheen until about hour 3 where the finish develops into a velvety one instead. Since I’ve already posted a detailed review regarding the Velvet Lip Glides a while ago which I’ll link right here, for today I am going to simply introduce the new shades with plenty of swatches!
Named for the personal power and play of ‘70s counterculture, the four Velvet Lip Glide shades are expertly curated to invoke the era’s new vibe with references to legendary venues and unforgettable attitude.
A look at the color selection and descriptions as I see them.
Bait – is a warm medium pink with a hint of purple undertones
Disruptor – is a warm brick red with yellow undertones
Impossible Red – is a deep warm coral red
Suck – is a warm medium peachy nude

Overall another solid lip launch. I’m personally a HUGE fan of the Velvet Lip Glide formula because it’s the perfect not a gloss but not a liquid lipstick either – however is an in-between that combines the best of both worlds into one. They are super comfortable to wear and have a beautiful color plus finish. Albeit that it’s a small launch there’s lots to love and play with. I think these are all the ideal basics for any makeup bag as it covers the primary colors most tend to wear daily.
There are a few more pieces in the Pop Goes The Easel collection. Aside from these four new Velvet Lip Glides, there are 3 new blushes in Misconduct (a shimmering golden nude pink), Peep Show (a ruby grapefruit) and Threesome (a lavender pink). There are also 3 new Sheer Pop Multiples in Cote Basque (a subtle poppy pink), Motu Tane (a nude pink) and Navagio Beach ( a golden champagne).
