Inspired by the spirit of LA, Dior introduces the next generation of high-shine and hydrating lipsticks outfitted as Dior Addict Lacquer Stick ($35 / 0.1 oz) with 18 sumptuous and boldly saturated shades in an addictive hybrid that’s half high-shine lacquer, half lip-loving lipstick. Opening up a new chapter in the Dior Addict saga, the Dior Addict Lacquer Stick brings a new code of intense color and shine with an innovative formula that promises to provide the comfort of a moisturizing lip balm without compromising the potency of the color and equally the ultra glossy formula mirroring a glass-like finish. Conceived by Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Dior Makeup, the18 brilliant colors inspired by Dior’s storied history in both Hollywood and LA are classified into four genres: Pastel, Neon, Classic and Wild covering a wide range of shade options inspired by the most emblematic Los Angeles hot spots. For my review I have a look at the three colors I picked up in: 487 Bubble, 550 Tease and 877 Turn Me Dior.
First, let’s take a look at the packaging. The new Dior Addict Lacquer Sticks are ceremonially housed in black lacquered casings emblazoned with neon pink reflections. I experienced a serious OMG moment when I pulled the tubes out of their boxes because they’re just beyond gorgeous and so luxurious looking. These are incredible lip balm/lipstick hybrids that glide on the lips with full smooth coverage and the most beautiful high impact shine. They are silky in texture and cover the lips flawlessly. The colors blend out to coat the entire lip in one swipe with rich pigment like a lush lipstick and the overall formula is in one word, effortless. I like that they wear exactly true to claim, like a lip balm. Some days I wonder if I forgot to put anything on my lips until I pass up a mirror and catch the reflection of the gorgeous color sitting on my lips. Lasting power is pretty astonishing, they last for a good 4.5 to 5 hours without sliding even surviving sips and eating fading into a grunge-like runway stain rather than simply fading. Transferring does happen but nothing overly dramatic. There is a slight scent to them that reminds me of the soft vanilla smell the classic Addict Lip Glows carry – however, I do find it soothing. The scent does fade after a few minutes.
A look at the color selection and descriptions as I see them.
487 Bubble – is a warm cotton candy pink with slight blue undertones
550 Tease – is a warm pink nude
877 Turn Me Dior – is a warm red with a tinge of coral
Swatched on the arm
Swatched on the lips. For skin tone reference, I am not wearing any foundation and am completely barefaced here. My skin tone is medium with pink undertones.
Bottom line, the formula is just absolutely perfect and I am thoroughly impressed with these. Each has flawless coverage and nice shine that last for quite a long time. They feel instantly comforting without being thick or heavy and have a naturally glossy finish. The colors are vibrant and while they do feel moist don’t slide off the lips. Pure perfection, I love them!
