For Spring 2017, Marc Jacobs Beauty just launched their new liquid lipsticks, Le Marc Liquid Lip Crème ($28 ea / 0.19 oz – 3.49 mL). These are liquid lipsticks formulated with Brazilian Cupuacu Butter and Collagen to help keep the lips smooth and hydrated whilst giving them a plumper look. The line consists of six colors total, all of which are in the neutral category with a range of bold, full coverage nudes. I picked up three out of the six shades sight unseen judging solely by the swatches Sephora has available on their website – the colors include: Fawn Over Me, Slow Burn and Truth Or Bare. 2016 was a breakout year for liquid lipsticks and while I picked up my fair share of them along the way simply because I adore the concept and execution of most formulas, a lot of them fell flat for me. My biggest peeve with a majority of liquid lipsticks is that, whether it’s due to the formula being too dry or the matte finish, they would always emphasize the lines I have in my lips and give them a unflattering dehydrated, cracked look. The Le Marc Liquid Lip Crèmes have a rich, creamy texture that effortlessly glides onto the lips and have a subtle, velvety satin sheen. Lips never appear dried out or cracked and instead look nourished and full for well over an impressive 8 hours.
A look at the color selection
Fawn Over Me – is a peachy nude.
Slow Burn – is described as a creamy nude rose but to me reads as a warm medium rosy mauve.
Truth Or Bare – is a warm medium dusty rose pink.
Swatched on the arm
Swatched on the lips. For skin tone reference, I am not wearing any foundation and am completely barefaced here. My skin tone is medium with pink undertones.
Bottom line, I highly recommend the Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Liquid Lip Crèmes if you like liquid lipstick formulas. Despite that the overall selection embodies neutral and holds only six colors, I think there’s a nice variety to choose from as they are more of the bolder nudes that have a kick so it’s not just beige monotony across the board. They have a luxuriously rich formula and a creamy texture that keeps lips looking smooth, hydrated and plump from morning until night with very minimal touch-ups. The no-streak, velvety satin sheen finish is flawless and one swipe provides opaque coverage. To date, this has been one of the very few liquid lipstick lines that has been able to fully coat my pigmented lips without their natural color coming through or distorting the overall shade as seen in the tube. My favorite shade hands down is Slow Burn, it’s just the perfect creamy nude rose.
As of right now, the Le Marc Liquid Lip Crèmes are available online only at Sephora as well as the Marc Jacobs Beauty official website. However, I do suspect that by the time Spring is about to debut these are bound to become available in stores.
Have you tried these yet? If not, what are your favorite liquid lipsticks?
