Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil | Bourbon, Scorch, Smog & Underground

December 23, 2016

Normally, I’m a powder-liner type of girl because I find it easier to achieve that sultry, smoked-out effect along my upper lash line using a fine-tipped brush in combination with an actual eyeshadow. However, in addition to eyeshadow powder, I’m also obsessed with waterline colors – in particular with shimmery browns, bronze tones, golds, nudes, etc. Basically, anything in the warm neutral family. One brand that I find has the best waterlining pencils is Urban Decay and their 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil ($20 each / 0.04 oz). These have a super soft and creamy texture that apply effortlessly onto the lids or waterline without tugging. Recently I picked up the shades Scorch and Smog. There are 41 colors total available in a wide selection of lush tropical hues, deep metallics and vibrant neutrals with a range of finishes.

The 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils are buttery, velvety soft, long-lasting and waterproof eyeliners that deliver powerful pigment upon first stroke. Created with 50% moisturizing ingredients suspended in a sophisticated waterproof formula, 24/7 Eye Pencils offer long-lasting color and a creamy feel when applied. What’s nice about these is that they are easily workable and buildable for a smokey eye. The emollient formula stays in-tact for blending (about 30 seconds), then dries down to a long-lasting finish that will not budge. If I’m not using an eyeshadow powder to smoke out my upper lash line, I like to use these as a base for smokey eye looks instead as they add dimension and really bring out the pigment of shadows when layered underneath. For waterlining they are the best in my opinion. I have tried multiple traditional kohl pencils in the past for that purpose exactly and always found them to be either too dry to apply or the color faded real quickly. True to claim, these pencils indeed glide on easily and have amazing wear time.

A look at my current color selection

Bourbon – is described as a brown with teeny gold glitter but to me reads as a warm medium to dark brown with slight golden undertones and has a metallic sheen.
Scorch – is described as a bronze shimmer with silver micro-sparkle but to me reads as a warm bronze-brown with a pearl sheen.
Smog – is described as a copper shimmer but to me reads as a warm medium to dark brown with golden bronze undertones and has a pearl sheen.
Underground – is described as a metallic taupe but to me reads as a warm taupe with a pearl sheen.

Swatched on the arm

To conclude, I’m thrilled with all four of them. I love neutral and dark smokey eye pencils that are not the classic black or gray colors for smoldering eye looks, or in most circumstances, to waterline with. If I had to pick a favorite right now, I would say that I have a definite preference towards Smog – only because I am utterly in love with the eyeshadow color as a whole. I use this shade the most for my waterline as it adds such a nice brightening, yet sensual touch to a vast majority of my beauty looks.

Have you tried any of the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils yet? Which colors are your favorite?
