Dior Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Set
Today I have yet another look at Holiday beauty highlighting the Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Set ($29.50) currently available at Sephora and Nordstrom. Featured in the two-piece set is the Iconic Overcurl Mascara (0.33 oz) and 5 Couleurs Couture Colours & Effects Eyeshadow Mini Palette (0.07 oz) in 746 Ambre Nuit. I received mine to play with from Sephora a few weeks ago and have been absolutely dying to tell you guys all about it as both items far exceeded my expectations. For me the winner out of the two is definitely the 5 Couleurs Couture Colours & Effects Eyeshadow Mini Palette. Unlike the full-size 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palettes, the mini palette does not come with the pretty embossed design as is per Dior’s signature mark. Nonetheless, the texture, quality and colors are on-point with the larger sized palettes and I was happy to discover that every single color from the mini palette worked for me – which is rare, to be honest. Dior has already launched their Holiday 2016 Splendor Color Collection, and after having tried this set I am over-the-top excited to get my hands on more pieces including this ridiculously pretty highlighter.
Up first is the mini eyeshadow palette. The 5 Couleurs Couture Colors & Effects Eyeshadow Palette is a warm-toned outfit consisting of 5 neutral colors with a peach, a peachy pearl and browns for a natural sultry smokey eye. The setup of this palette evolves around one central shade with corresponding hues that work together to create more natural or sophisticated looks for every mood and occasion hosting matte, satin, iridescent, and ultra-shimmery finishes. Overall the palette has the perfect mix of earthy tones that are a cinch to wear for the everyday but can seamlessly transition into a nighttime look by simply amping up the deeper shades. Across the board all colors have an amazing soft texture that effortlessly buff into the lids with medium to full pigment. Color payoff is quite good and can be intensified by layering. I created an entire look by solely using this palette and it wore for almost 8.5 hours without skipping a beat.
A look at the color selection
Since none of the shades are in fact named I am highlighting them from left to right
#1 – is a warm light to medium peach with a golden shimmer finish
#2 – is a warm medium golden brown that has a slight frost to it
#3 – is a peachy pearl and has a frosted metallic finish
#4 – is a warm dark brown with red undertones and has a shimmer-sheen finish
#5 – is a warm light to medium brown that has a satin finish

Next up is the full-size Iconic Overcurl Mascara. I love, love, LOVE Dior mascaras, in particular the cult status Iconic Overcurl Mascara. It’s been a few years since I’ve splurged on a proper Dior mascara mainly because it’s a draining habit to upkeep considering they ring in over $28 per piece. You can only imagine my excitement when a full-size tube was included in this set. *Reunited and it feels so good*. There are a lot of mixed reviews online about this specific mascara – either they love or hate it and there’s always an ongoing battle between the Iconic Overcurl and the Diorshow. For me, the Overcurl is simply a great basic mascara. It has a nice conditioning deep-black formula that adds definition and volume without smudging. Right off the bat it does not add a dramatic effect but it is easy to layer to achieve such results. I can also recommend the Dior Diorshow Maximizer 3D Triple Volume Plumping Lash Primer if you’re not a fan of layering or if your lashes’ texture won’t allow to double or triple up. Using the concave side of the brush, I press that against the roots of my lashes and then coat them upwards in a sweeping curling motion. Doing this in combination with the curl-boosting formula allows my lashes to hold onto their curl without weighing them down.
In conclusion, I love everything about this set even though the mini palette perhaps the most despite that the Overcurl is one of my top favorite mascaras of all time. Dior releases the full-size mascara + mini eyesadow quad ( <– with colors from their permanent line) every single holiday season which makes it a good option to gift to someone or to keep it for yourself as the set consists of modern classics I think anyone can appreciate.
