Urban Decay Razor Sharp Water-Resistant Longwear Liquid Eyeliner | Demolition

New from Urban Decay this Fall is their Razor Sharp Water-Resistant Longwear Liquid Eyeliner ($22 ea / 0.07 oz) which comes available in 20 different neutral and colorful shades, ranging from matte to metallic finishes. It’s their thinnest and most waterproof formula to date and is set to replace their 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner.

What it does:

Introducing Razor Sharp Water-Resistant Longwear Liquid Eyeliner by Urban Decay, an intensely pigmented liquid liner that lasts all day and comes in an array of shades—from lacquered creams to metallic shimmers.

This water-resistant formula dries down quickly, provides long-lasting wear, and will not smudge. Its fine-tipped brush applicator lets you lay down sharp liquid lines so you can draw them on super thin or thick and bold, or even spot-reapply with ease. Then simply remove it with makeup remover.

I purchased the shade Demolition (a deep brown with matte finish) and have been putting it to the test for the last 3 weeks. So far I’m pretty impressed with the color as well as the lasting power. It holds up rather well throughout the day as it didn’t smudge, bleed, flaked or faded. The tip is super fine for precise application – since I’m not the biggest fan of eyeliner in general, being able to draw on a thin line that simply accentuates the eye shape I very much appreciate the tiny tip. But not to worry if you prefer your liner a little bolder because of course you can draw and stroke the product on until you’ve reached desired thickness. Since I am rarely able to nail eyeliner in one stroke, I have to feather it in sections until I achieve what I’m looking for and this doesn’t tug or pull which makes the application process a little easier and less harrowing. The overall formula is soft but not too much. Consistency is a little tricky as it is extremely watery in the beginning. I advise to shake for a good 30 seconds before going into application, and trust me on this that you’ll need to shake the product every single time prior to use. After you shake it thoroughly that’s when the color payoff is at full capacity otherwise it is extremely runny and you get nothing out of it.

Demolition is a deep brown that has a matte finish. In the Fall I tend to opt for black eyeliner formulas and in the Summer I’ll go for brown as it’s a lot more softer. This year though I decided to continue using brown since I find it much more flattering especially when I’m wearing lighter neutral shades like various beiges or nudes. For a liquid eyeliner the brown color is quite a bit intense. I’ve experienced in the past with a few other brown-based liquid liner formulas that when swatched on the back of my hand the color was nicely pigmented and rich but once it hit my eyelids it was barely there at best. This is a true deep brown that doesn’t fade into a lighter cast.

In conclusion, I rate this 5 solid stars. Being someone who doesn’t really like eyeliners I’m often skeptical because I’m very picky about color but more so about the applicator tip since I need something that offers the ability to draw it on as thin as possible. The Urban Decay Razor Sharp Water-Resistant Longwear Liquid Eyeliner hits both marks in color as well as application. I find that the formula is very good and long-wearing, albeit the consistency leaves something to the imagination since it’s so runny and watery. A good 30-second shake will remedy that though. The packaging is designed really well. It’s a nice sleek and modern aesthetically metallized bottle with an easy-to-spot, shade-matched cap. To create texture and added grip for the perfect application, the bottle features microfine slashed knurling in a pretty crosshatch pattern. It’s very easy to use and glides on without tugging or pulling. For some odd reason I’ve found out firsthand that trying to find a good brown liquid eyeliner is a lot more difficult than finding a black, and this offers all I could want in a brown eyeliner. I haven’t read about it anywhere yet but I sincerely hope the Razor Sharp Water-Resistant Longwear Liquid Eyeliner becomes permanent.
