MAC Cosmetics Mineralize Skinfinish In Cheeky Bronze
Last month I reviewed the second addition to my MAC Mineralize Skinfinish collection in Global Glow – reviewed here -, and today I’m back with yet another MSF review of the third addition in the widely universal shade Cheeky Bronze ($32 / 0.35 oz). Out of the 6 total shades Nordstrom has available I currently own 3 and Cheeky Bronze is perhaps the most versatile and my most used MSF to date. Cheeky Bronze, I just love that name, is described as a soft coral with golden shimmer, but to me reads in a more coppery tone with gold shimmer and has a hint of a red undercurrent to it. Just like Global Glow and Gold Deposit, Cheeky Bronze was originally released a few years ago, but was reformulated and brought back and made part of the permanent series of Mineralize Skinfinishes. All I can say is, thank god!
The quality and texture of the re-promoted Cheeky Bronze has significantly improved since its original version from what almost feels like decades ago now. From what I can remember the color is pretty similar if not completely identical as the original, but it appears that the texture was the main focus of reformulation. Unlike the original option, as well as Global Glow, this shade seems finer-milled that is not at all powdery and I have experienced less powder kick-up in the pan upon usage. The shimmer is not as chunky as the original but instead is more finer and smoother, in return my pores and skin’s natural texture are not emphasized. Major bonus points.
Cheeky Bronze is the one of the very few shades from the MSF series that is as versatile as it is, and can be used as a bronzer, highlighter and blush. I do have to say that coverage is kind of a learning curve because it depends solely on how heavy or light you use your hand. This particular shade is insanely pigmented and has an amazing color payoff that ranges in coverage from a semi-sheer to full as it is very buildable. Let’s say you want to use it as a bronzer, I recommend using a large fluffy and dust the powder all over as you’d normally would because you’ll get a good amount of deposit for a beautiful warm glow. If you want to use it mainly as a highlighter, then I’ll recommend using a fan brush and going in with a very light hand since it takes zero effort to gain any kind of color out of it. I’ve been mainly using Cheeky Bronze as a bronzer because I love the natural dimension and soft, dewy glow my skin is veiled in when I use it.

A closeup of the color:
At this point I own more bronzers than I know what to do with, but out of all of the powder bronzers I currently own, Cheeky Bronze is one that I reach for daily. It’s an effortless bronzer that adds instant warmth and glow to the face with a unique color that surprisingly does not run ruddy despite it’s reddish undertone. Application is super smooth and the color blends out flawlessly and lasts for well over 8.5 hours before it started to lose color intensity. Plus, it does not emphasize pores or the natural texture of the skin which is a big deal. Another major plus is that overall the color did not oxidize too much over the course of wear so I did not have to stress over the color taking a turn especially since it does have a red tinge to it.

Bottom line, Cheeky Bronze in my opinion is a definite must-have out of the Mineralize Skinfinish chapter and is well worth the $32 price tag. If you’re looking to add on to your MSF collection or are a first-timer looking to venture out, I highly recommend this particular shade as it is super versatile, the quality is superb and it has a delicate satiny finish that is incredibly easy to layer. An easy A+.
