Pur Cosmetics Glow Together
Although I am obsessed with bronzers, as I have said before it must be the Vegas girl in me, from whatever brand to whatever color and finish, it’s a first for me to have played with a bronzer from Pur Cosmetics. Any product from Pur Cosmetics to be quite honest. Whilst browsing their display recently at Ulta, besides picking up their Strobe Palette in Moonlight Glow – review here -, I also purchased their Glow Together ($34) bronzing compact. What initially attracted me to the compact was its sheer size, it is jumbo (0.60 oz/17 gr), to say the least. Upon closer inspection I became rather intrigued with the color which in different angles took on a whole bunch of different lives. After swatching it I kind of came to the conclusion that the color projected that of a natural tan, or a true bronze, if you will. And after waging the fact if I indeed needed another bronzer to add to my collection, I was able to justify this purchase based on the value of the amount of product you get for the price. That sole reason confirmed the deal for me.
Oh, the struggle is real.
Glow Together is described as a naturally brilliant bronzer that mimics a sun-inspired contour to maintain a golden hue all-year-long. And that statement could not be more closer to the truth even if it tried. It’s a warm-toned bronzer that consists of 3 matte shades, for contouring, and 3 shimmer shades, for all-over glow, that range between various neutral-based shades. Besides consisting of 6 individual strips to create whatever looks you want, the entire compact is blendable like a Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick and can be swiped on all at the same time after swirling a brush mixing the colors together. The latter is what I personally love to do with this compact because the end result of mixing all shades together is that of a “just back from vacation” tan. It’s a luminous true bronze with golden undertones that instantly illuminates the skin. It has a soft texture but is a bit on the powdery side, yet lays down on the skin with a silky, metallic sheen finish minus the frost you can sometimes gain from a metallic sheen finish. Pigment is that of sheer-to-medium coverage but is blendable enough to layer until reaching the desired effect, whether that be sunkissed or looking like you’ve baked in the sun all weekend sans the rays. There’s definitely enough color in a first swipe that hints at a golden glow, but if you want more significant color I suggest at least trying 2 for a more multi-dimensional effect. Depending on the lighting, it can look like you either got a tan, or you’ll see more of the gold. I simply love how it just gives this natural glow to the face.
As I said, it feels kind of on the powdery side yet it has a glowy finish once it lays down on the skin. During the day it remains to look like a metallic sheen that stays exactly that way and does not start to look like you’ve battle striped a grease streak across the cheeks. On me it lasted well over 9,5 hours without fading, losing intensity, or looking streaky.
Since the compact contains 6 individual strips, and can be mixed together, I think this bronzer would suit a wide variety of skin tones. Whether it be for bronzing purposes, a soft contour or a subtle highlight. Overall my experience with a bronzer by Pur Cosmetics deserves a huge thumbs up. This bronzer has beautiful pigmentation, is easy to work with, blends real nicely, versatile enough for day and night wear. It gives the face an amazing, exotic glow.
