The At-Home Spa Day

March 18, 2015

Wednesday signifies many joyous feelings, sentiments and thoughts – the only one being for many that it breaks the week in half meaning we survived Monday and Friday is within reach. But for those of us who have one day during the week where they rekindle and reconnect with themselves in form of having a relaxing mini Spa day at home, Wednesday would be my day. It’s the perfect day for a midweek pick-me-up dedicated to nourishing my skin a little extra than I would during either one of everyday routines. Plus, at this point I feel like I have performed enough strenuous activities to last me for another week. Give or take. Okay maybe a day or two.

Nothing is more orgasmic than slipping into my robe having shed the confines of either skinny pants or an LBD, quite freeing if I may so myself. Putting on a headband to pull most of my hair back, I will splash my face three times with lukewarm water and pat-dry using a towel. I don’t know why three times, I just recently noticed it because apparently I’m weird like that. Squeezing a quarter-size amount of the Bliss Micro Magic Spa-Powered Microdermabrasion Treatment between my fingers and gently start massaging the cheeks, chin and forehead area, including my nose with short intervals for one minute. After I have rinsed my face I am ready to jump in the shower. Taking in the sheer heavenly veil of warm water relaxing my bones, I go about washing my hair and tending to the second step of skincare in the shower where I will cleanse using of course the good ole Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser. Once I manage to drag myself from underneath the warm delight into the shockingly real cold air of normal room temperature which feels like an arctic blast, I will butter myself up with Suave’s Smoothing with Cocoa Butter & Shea Body Lotion before slipping into my robe again.

Liberally spray my hair with It’s A 10 Miracle Leave-In Plus Keratin, I generally apply the Origins Clear Improvement™ Active Charcoal Mask To Clear Pores to pull out any leftover debris that could potentially clog my pores and cause any breakouts. Finally, after almost 6 months I feel like I have some sort of grip on my cystic acne and I don’t want to rock the boat by leaving anything up to chance. For 10 minutes while the mask goes to work I put the music on full blast to coax myself into doing some sculpting moves. I have been stuck on this inner thigh workout by Into The Gloss. I’m definitely not a fan of exercise but playing Slipknot’s Custer in the background definitely eggs one on to kick some motherfucker’s ass. Even if that includes my own. After rinsing off the charcoal mask, I remove any lingering debris with the Neutrogena Clear Pore Oil-Controlling Astringent before I put on one of the masks from the Karuna Skin Transformation Kit, I’ve been absolutely hooked on these things as of late. For 20 minutes it feeds my skin a serum that is infused with essential vitamins, Aloe, Chamomile, Chinese Licorice, peptides, and more. It’s kind of an eerie feeling but you can almost feel your pores drink in the ingredients from the mask, it is so refreshing and renewing. Plus, they smell like a bakery, don’t know why?

Stripping the mask from my face much to my dismay because I wish I could wear it all, using my finger tips I massage the remaining serum into my skin using face massaging movements. While I let the serum go to work, I apply the Sexy Hair Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Tri-Wheat Leave In-Conditioning Oil. Starting at the roots on top of my head I will work my way down the sides and then run my fingers through strands of hair to disperse the oil. Depositing two-three drops of the Mario Badescu Cellufirm Drops, I will pat the product into my skin before moving in to my favorite of all time day moisturizer, you already know it, classic and timeless Nivea Cream

To finish my mini spa day, closing my pores for the day until bedtime I liberally spritz the Mario Badescu Facial Spray With Aloe, Herbs & Rosewater. Recently I wrote a post on the multiple skin benefits of rosewater, you should really check it out and find out what it can do for your complexion, it’s quite amazing. And lastly, with Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1 firmly tapped into my pucker I shall sit down and live for continuing my Netflix marathon of Gilmore Girls.
