It has been taking me a while to complete my take on the new Lorac Unzipped Gold Palette, the brand’s sequel to their cult favorite and best-selling original Unzipped Palette. The Gold version was released in January and is part of their Spring 2015 lineup among a new line of concealers, a lip and cheek palette, a limited edition gold Alter Ego lipstick collection, etc. Initially I went to Ulta to find both the eyeshadow palette and the lip/cheek palette, unfortunately the latter was sold out but I did FINALLY get my hands on the eyeshadow palette which will cure my jonesing for more Lorac for now. Read, for now. So let’s get to the goods, shall we?
Containing 10 richly pigmented eyeshadows, including a mini Behind The Scenes Eye Primer, the Unzipped Gold is a new and also permanent addition to Lorac’s line of fabulous. You know I go hard for Lorac so it’s no surprise that I have fallen hard for this palette. The Gold palette embraces the exact same concept of its original counterpart with 4 matte shades and 6 shimmer shades that teeter very distinctly towards the warm spectrum. Making this a very versatile and virtually seasonless palette, an element I always appreciate. As per Lorac standard, the shades have the possibility to be used both dry and wet, doubling the shadow options and looks to be created. I find that when used wet, the shimmers last well over 8 hours which I what I normally get out of all my Lorac shadow palettes. Although I do advise to not drench your brush in water, slightly dampening would suffice just fine in delivering on a gorgeous, smooth finish with very minimal fallout.
Out of all of the palette releases currently on the market, never once was one on my mind more than this sleek little dude and that is mainly because I know what I get when I purchase a Lorac product. It’s quality, it’s beauty, a refreshing addition to my palette family which now consist of 4 by Lorac, that should tell you something because I’m extremely picky when it comes to purchasing makeup.
