To me, Lorac Cosmetics is a came, saw and conquered favorite brand. They have the best products, and I mean the best when it comes to quality versus price. A good percentage of my makeup collection consists of Lorac products simply because I know what I’m paying for and I know what I’m getting. Naturally when they have a new launch I get extremely excited because it means I get to add more to my already never-ending, growing Lorac memorabilia, and one of their latest launches that had me reeling was the Alter Ego line of lipsticks. Addicted, may just be the word and the shades I own are some of my frequent go-to’s for this season. Or is it obsessed?
The concept behind the Alter Ego campaign is for every woman to channel their perpetual alter ego and instantly transform not only their look, but also their identity with every lipstick embracing a name that could bring out the sass in anyone. From Seductress, Dominatrix and Centerfold to Socialite, Free Spirit or Nymph, out of the 20 color options there is a choice for everyone and their role play alternative in lip dress form.
Alter Ego lipsticks are intensely pigmented, borderline hyper and come with a not quite matte, not quite creamy opaque finish. It’s kind of a weird in-between finish that I can’t quite put my finger on, but it is due to this exact finish that the colors themselves beget a very unique look with a rich color deposit that is bar-none to anything I’ve ever used before. Another bonus worth mentioning is the longevity of the colors. The only time I had to re-apply was after 3 hours after having a meal and drinks and that was only to get back the full effect of the individual shade and not because the entire lip wore off.
While the color selection is nicely diverse ranging from warm nudes to alluring plum with just about everything and the kitchen sink in between, I currently only own 4 of the shades because I am a hardcore neutral minimalist and I never tend to step outside of my box with colors. Which sometimes is too bad because this range has some gorgeous colors impossible to play favorites with.
My current favorite shades are Socialite, Duchess, Centerfold and Nymph with swatches to show what the shades look like in real life. You can view the entire collection right here and if you own one of these lipsticks let me know which shade!
