Skincare to me is paramount. Most women obsess over how their makeup looks, I stress over how much time I invest in and the result of how my skin appears prior to the application process. The bottom line is, if your skin doesn’t look good, chances are your makeup will not either. What is paramount, of course, in skincare is the derivative of; does it work? I may perhaps be the biggest skeptic when it comes to skincare because I have trialed so many and about 75% did not deliver on results. It’s part of the process of becoming an educated consumer and I embrace it – that being said, I also do appreciate finding a range or product that actually does produce results. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while then by now you already have become aware that I am a HUGE fan of the Mario Badescu skincare brand. My love for the brand started with a simple night cream purchase and blossomed from there on. I have honestly never used a product from the brand that did not cooperate with or worked well on my skin, which is why this specific brand has been the one I make the most recommendations towards pertaining to my family and friends asking me about skincare since I can do so with a rested heart.
Below I listed the products I’m currently using and included some supplemental information to cover what they do and how they have worked for me. Oh, and seriously, check out the Mario Badescu line – you definitely will not be disappointed.
Glycolic Acid Toner, $18 – The one and only toner I completely approve of for my skin. The Glycoloc Acid and Grapefruit extract exfoliates and refreshens skin without drying it out or stripping it from the essentials. Tackling the deep clean to prevent pore congestion which could result in breakouts, it also conditions skin to minimize the appearance of fine lines, uneven skin tone, discoloration and other factors that contribute to skin looking tired and dull. It’s basically a twoofer, helps reduce the chance of breakouts and acts as an anti-aging agent.
Seaweed Night Cream, $22 – Meant to moisturize while treating the signs of aging, this is my favorite night cream by MB besides the Caviar Night Cream. I prefer to use the MB night creams over anything else because I am confident that it promotes hydrated skin more than some others I have used. Supercharged with seaweed, not only does it restore vitality to produce younger-looking skin, it keeps skin conditioned and deeply hydrated to eliminate that tight, dry feel others can induce by morning. It legit feels like you just applied it yet has already absorbed into your skin without heavy oil pore-clogging ingredients. Very luxurious, definitely a 10/10.
Glycolic Eye Cream, $20 – One of my longtime favorites, I cannot express how luxurious, refreshing, hydrating and overall amazing this has been for the delicate eye area. It is so different from other eye creams I have previously tried. High in Vitamin E and a blend of nourishing oils, it has definitely diminished those ‘squint lines’ we form around the eyes while keeping the skin looking supple and feeling very soft. I feel lost if I don’t at least keep one in stock.
Cellufirm Drops, $25 – Another stellar product by Mario Badescu, once I started using this it removed all doubt that firming products did not work for the long run but instead just temporarily fixed the issue. I squeeze about 5 drops, maybe a tad bit more, into my hands and gently massage it all over my face including the eye are twice a day before moisturizer. It’s a light formula concentrate that contains Vitamin E and is rich in Seaweed extract that act to help preserve elasticity by promoting collagen, while it balances the moisture levels. Overall this leaves skin feeling very soft and smooth, not to mention my complexion looks so much brighter and healthier when I am actively using this.
Whitening Mask, $24 – As you most likely know by now, my sporadic hormonal breakouts before turning 30 wreaked significant damage on my skin and has rendered it with dark spots and a good portion of acne scarring. When I was searching for a brightening mask my thoughts instantly went to Mario Badescu and that’s how I find this mask that covers 3 bases in 1. It is said to reduce uneven skin tone from minor pigmentation and old acne scarring, while the botanical ingredients minimizes the redness and sensitivity. Also, it keeps pores clean and tightens them. So far I’ve only been using this mask for 2 weeks, 3 times a week, it has definitely calmed down the redness in my current dotted scars but it is too soon for me to give an accurate and full review that it indefinitely reduced the affected areas. I will give an updated version once I have been using it for 90 days which I the amount of time I give all products before forming a solid opinion.
Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs & Rosewater, $7 – My morning wake-me-up, I spritz 2 liberal sprays all over my face once I am able to get both my legs out of bed every day. An instant boost of hydration, it energizes the skin with a good dose of herbal elements and rosewater while the aloe softens without leaving a greasy film. It’s the perfect pick-me-up in the morning or any time of day, plus it smells absolutely delightful.
